What is Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)?
MFA stands for multi-factor authentication, a security measure that requires users to provide multiple forms of verification to confirm their identity. Also known as two-step verification, MFA is an important part of cybersecurity that helps prevent unauthorized access to accounts by adding an extra layer of protection. Even if a password is compromised, MFA helps prevent unauthorized access by making it significantly more difficult for attackers to infiltrate accounts through methods such as malware, phishing, or ransomware attacks.
Why is Comcast Advertising implementing multi-factor authentication (MFA)?
As technology evolves and security threats grow more sophisticated, Comcast Advertising is taking proactive measures to strengthen our user identity and authentication of all our systems to better protect our customer and affiliate data. One of the best-proven practices in cybersecurity is MFA – a second factor confirming our clients and affiliates are who they say they are. Ultimately, MFA will enhance security by requiring multiple forms of verification to access a system, account, or application, considerably diminishing the risk of unauthorized access. We're focused on safeguarding sensitive information to provide a secure and dependable environment for our clients and affiliates as part of our broader Comcast cybersecurity initiatives.
What are the benefits of MFA?
At Comcast Advertising, we take protecting our customer, employee, and company information and our infrastructure extremely seriously – and as part of our strong, yet simple, sign-in experience, MFA) helps us do so. MFA requires you to provide a “second factor” to confirm your identity after entering your credentials. This helps prevent unauthorized access to data and applications. For example, even if a hacker compromises one factor – like a password – the hacker won’t be able to meet the second authentication requirement and won’t be able to access your account or information. MFA helps protect you and your data.
As an Comcast Advertising client or affiliate, what do I need to do today to install MFA?
MFA will be required for clients and affiliates beginning in early 2025. To prepare for MFA, you will need to ensure that you utilize an individual account to access Comcast Advertising systems and applications. If you currently use a shared account that multiple people utilize, you will need to create an individual account for each Comcast Advertising system you use. Once MFA is enabled, successful authentication may become problematic with a shared account because MFA typically requires access to a device that should not be shared among users – like a personal cell phone. Independent of the MFA enablement, it is considered a poor security practice to have shared user accounts, particularly when handling sensitive data. This exposes your personal data to increased security risks.
I do not want to create an individual account – I want to keep my shared account. Is that possible?
We strongly discourage the use of shared accounts as it poses a security risk to your personal information and Comcast Advertising's infrastructure. In addition, MFA may be challenging when using a shared account since multiple users are not sharing a device to be used for authentication.
When creating a new account, what are the email format requirements?
The following fields are required - First Name, Last Name, Username, and Email. Character limits are as following: First Name - 1-50 characters, Last Name: 1-50 characters, Username - 5-50 characters, and Email 5-50 characters.
Note: Username and Email are two separate fields and can be different, but both require standard email formatting (e.g., [email protected]).

When creating a new account, what are the password format requirements?

If I'm a Comcast Business and Comcast Advertising customer, where do I update my password?
Users who are Comcast Business and Comcast Advertising customers cannot update passwords through the Comcast Advertising user portals. Comcast Advertising user portals include: the Client Account Portals (CAP), myEffectv, Total Access Portal (TAP), and Comcast Media Submission App (CMSA). Users should contact Comcast Business Customer Care here.
I don’t want to use MFA. What other options do I have?
To safeguard and protect our client, affiliate, employee and company information, we are requiring MFA enablement across all our Comcast Advertising systems.
Why am I redirected to the Comcast Business Portal?
Businesses accessing Comcast Business and Comcast Advertising systems will now benefit from a unified user identity and login credentials, enhancing data protection and improving the overall user experience. Comcast Advertising customers and business partners who also use the Comcast Business portal will be redirected there to begin the authentication process. Moving forward, the same login credentials will be used for accessing both Comcast Business and Comcast advertising systems.
Having hardware or device issues preventing MFA installation?
Comcast Advertising is unable to assist with hardware or device-related issues. Please contact your organization’s IT department for further support.
Trouble downloading one of the available authentication apps?
Comcast Advertising is unable to assist with issues related to downloading authentication apps. We recommend reaching out to the app’s customer service team (e.g., Microsoft) for assistance.
